When Chinese & Melayu to be one [Laksa]

Java traditional diet that I will post is about “Laksa”. Do you know what “Laksa”? This diet is from my hometown (Bogor). The origin of the name “laksa” is unclear. One theory traces it back to Hindi/Persian lakhshah, referring to a type of vermicelli, which in turn may be derived from the Sanskrit lakshas (लकशस्) meaning “one hundred thousand” (lakh). It has also been suggested that “laksa” may derive from the Chinese word 辣沙 (Cantonese: [lɐ̀t.sáː]), meaning “spicy sand” due to the ground dried prawns which gives a sandy or gritty texture to the sauce. The last theory[3] is that the name comes from the similar sounding word “dirty” in Hokkien due to its appearance.

You will see the picture below..

Laksa BogorIt’s Laksa Bogor. For kuah, they use santan (from the coconut) and they add chicken, tofu and oncom. People usually eat this diet using rice noodle (bihun) for the good taste, they add Kemangi leaves. It will create a good combination and you must have to try it.

In my hometown, there are food truck which sell this diet, it is in Gang Aut. If you have decided to come to Bogor, don’t forget to try this diet ya guys!
